Mikayla Butchart is an artist, illustrator, and editor living in Santa Rosa, California.
Mikayla received her BA in English from UC Berkeley, where she subsequently taught American literature, and her MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay in 2016 from the School of Visual Art in New York. She currently splits her time between illustrating, graphic design, and an editorial career in book publishing. Mikayla has studied art, illustration, and design at the California College of Art, the San Francisco Art Institute, and Parsons The New School for Design, and completed a residency in illustration in 2012 at the School of Visual Art in New York. After living and running her illustration studios in San Francisco and Brooklyn for 15 years, she returned to Santa Rosa in 2017, where she was born and raised. The day after the North Bay fires started in October 2017, Mikayla launched a successful fundraising campaign titled "Rose-ilience," centered around an image of her own design, which has raised a cumulative $60,000 to date for fire relief.
